Bad English sentence composition makes you wonder about the content

I was turned off of this book after reading a single section. The sentence structure and concepts were not communicated fluently in English, and sounds clearly like a foreign native trying to communicate complex concepts in a second language. Without clear communication, and questionable concepts, the book's purpose is lost.

On the other hand, those hoping for an ambitious discussion of the shape shifting, trances, energy scanning, and archetypal imagery that characterize Toltec sexuality will be deeply gratified. Like the famous writer Carlos Castaneda, who introduced Toltec teachings to the greater world, Merilyn Tunneshende often shifts into dream-like narratives. For example, in a passage where she discusses the sensual power of nature, Tunneshende recounts a trance under the guidance of her shaman and teacher. Lying beneath a mesquite tree, she has a vision that she is "moving through the interior of the plant, much like a whole egg moves through the body of a snake when swallowed." When she arrived at the base of the plant, "a trumpeting white flower sprouted from my head and my ovaries turned in on themselves...." A valuable tool and enjoyable reading

As a longtime student of Carlos Castaneda's books, I will always be grateful to him for introducing me to the possibilities of a different perception. However, Merilyn's book fills in many of the gaps missing from Carlos' teachings. I had a profound near death experience before ever hearing about Castaneda, an explanation for which I have been seeking for years for in his books, and failed to find. Merilyn was able to address it. The writing may appear deceptively simple, but in her preface, she states that it is written for "big children", as we are children when it comes to the potential of our sexual energy. I found this book to be fulfilling and thoroughly worthwhile reading. My deepest thanks to you, Merilyn.

Review: of Don Juan and the Art of Sexual Energy

Merilyn Tunneshende brought to light the key that opens the door to all of Don Juan's teachings. After decades of reading Carlos Castenda and wondering how to access lucid dreaming as Don Juan and his students did, Ms. Tunneshhende brings a clear step-by-step guide for accessing the the higher realms and being able to bring back that information into the conscious 3rd dimensional state. It is very common sense information and makes it easy to access and use the information we are provided all the time from the higher realms. Her book also explains "sexual energy", which is really prana or life force in other terms. Sexual energy is powerful and once activated, it can unleash the whole soul of the individual that has long been cloaked in the baggage of of many lifetimes of karmic correction. The book is also very well written, interesting, provides an understanding and of relationshups of the the shamans and their wonderfully exciting world and offers a clear guide to activating one's sexual energy.

Extremely Valuable Collection of Spiritual Practices

This excellent book weaves together a description of basic Mesoamerican spiritual practices with the highlights of MT's training. The story also gives pointers to women on why and how not to become prey to the sexual desires of male gurus--a topic too long ignored.
Although we are no longer associated, I worked with her in the past and I promise you that whether or not you believe her teacher's were Don Juan and Don Genaro from the Castenada books (I personally believe she is Carol Tiggs from his books), MT is definitely a trained sorceress in that tradition. Although she can pin you to the wall with vicious rantings, she gave me the most valuable practice I have ever received from my 25 years experience in multiple mystical traditions. I can't express how thankful I am for receiving the gift of the method to create "the pearl" from MT. This high level women's practice "worked" for me in about two weeks of practice and I continue to carry the precious beauty of that energy which has opened the door to a much more magical world for me.
MT once gave me the task of finding her and Dona Celestina Soledad in Yuma. After a cursory look around, I decided I would rather not risk being eaten alive and left. Perhaps she did not forgive me for that. But if you have been meditating for years with no noticeable effect and you want practices that work, try these...

very eye opening

It was enlightening to see the order of events showing how hip hop has invaded our culture. To see the dark side of it is important. Even though the author is not sophisticated in her writing style, she is real in her sincerity and personal observations. This stuff is well worth knowing.

Excellent, But....

Nancy Appleton does an excellent job of explaining the new research that's come out about Inflammation this last year. And there is a chapter by an MD/ND who speaks to the current state of health for most people in their 30s. Being 20 yrs older than that, I can see the change in health status so many experience. Environmental Illness is the cause of much of it. Unfortunately the recommendations in Chapter 8 to Detoxify are sorely out-of-date, and will not help seriously ill people very much. Serious allergy relief is not found. Energy Medicine addresses this fairly well, but is never mentioned. A very useful tool is at the end of the book: Body Chemistry Test Kit. Still worth the read and the price.

This book is fascinating. It's too bad that all doctors aren't required to read this so they could make appropriate nutritional recommendations to their patients. If people followed this type of lifestyle diet a myriad of 'chronic' diseases would disappear! Too bad that the majority of Americans will never read this book.

Good info, very very bad editing

This book has some terrific info, but I'm finding it unreadable. It's filled with grammatical and English usage errors. (Examples: inflict vs afflict, affect vs effect.) It's hard for me to take the author and the book seriously. I wonder if she's as sloppy with her facts as she is with her writing. I'm not saying she is; I just wonder. Anyway, from what I was able to wade through, it seems like there's important information in this book. Unfortunately, the book did not get the professional editing job it and its readers deserve, and as a consequence it is exasperating to try to read.

An Amazing Book that leaves you hungry for more!!

This is the fourth book in the Steel brothers series. After reading about Talon and Jade, I wondered what would come next. Melt continues to show how what had happened to Talon shaped Jonah's future as well. Jonah, still struggling with what happened years ago decides to seek help.

Meeting Dr. Melanie Carmichael as a patient causes him to start facing his inner demons but she has to face some of her own. It is evident from the first meeting they are drawn towards each other. Is the passion they share together ever going to be enough to overcome their own personal demons?

The love scenes in this book will make you melt. The book is fast paced and filled with emotion. You will not want to put it down until you have finished. Helen Hardt has again written an outstanding novel. I look forward to reading more.

Great read but...

While I've read books 1 through 4, I didn't decide to write a review until completing number 4. The books are well written, characters are developed nicely and the story line is interesting although disturbing. I read all 4 in about 3 days. Which brings me to my next point...I think I am tired of books with cliffhangers forcing me to pay and pay and pay. These four books could easily have been two very excellent book including what is obviously coming in book number five. This is the first time I've read books from this author and I must say she writes well enough to make you feel a part of the story but I'm probably won't be reading any others. My dollars are just as important as my enjoyment of the written word. If you're already a fan, I know you'll continue to enjoy her books but for me, there are great authors out there who are willing to write a complete story without breaking it up into as many pieces as they can for a few extra bucks! I willing to look for them!

The Steele Brothers... yes, they are worth your reading time.

The Steele Brothers from book one until now have grabbed my attention in more ways than one. From horrific events, riviting revelations, and steamy connections... there is no way to help being drawn into their story as you try to grasp how their lives have come to this point, or more importantly how they will overcome it.

Melt takes Jonah Steele on his own journey in the saga. The connection he and Melanie have is undeniable but it is also emotionally burdened by their pasts. I loved reading their beginning but where the book ends, it is clear their story will continue.

As an avid and critical reader, it is rare I write reviews but this book, and the continuation of the Steele Brothers saga is note worthy. It is definitely necessary to read the books in order as the saga is chronological as events unfold and the characters are built. There are very few editing mistakes and the reading is smooth. There is a chapter character division on POV which is well done and doesn't disrupt the story as a whole. Descriptions are specific and are not over done or overemphasized. The sexual descriptive repetition is very limited which keeps the scenes from feeling mundane or just repeated. The Steele Brothers are worth your reading time.

A playscript that made me cry

To begin with, I should say that I am a nonprofessional stage actor, and I've just finished appearing in an 8-performance run of this play Off-Broadway in Manhattan. Mr. Holt, the translator, was in attendance throughout, this having been the play's American premiere.
The story is a speculation on the life of Diego Velazquez, a major figure in art history. Buero Vallejo's plot makes use of what little is known about the man to suggest the possible repercussions of his unorthodox work for King Philip IV's court. Petty individuals conspire to condemn a man whose vision and unwillingness to compromise are interpreted as disloyalty to the Crown. There are similarities to "A Man for All Seasons" and "Beckett" in the ensuing conflict between loyalty and integrity.
The second time I read through the play, its emotional climax (in which the painter Velazquez eloquently defends himself to the Inquisition) brought me to tears. During our production's rehearsals, I was fortunate enough to be asked to fill in for absent actors, so although my actual role was a supporting character (a beggar who is telling this story to the audience), I had the pleasure of reading the lead (Velazquez) as well.
The story is not a happy one; the titular painting (an informal portrait of one of the king's daughters and her servants) is described as "a calm painting; but with all of Spain's sadness within it." Velazquez himself describes his people as "sad hypocrites." The author, who wrote this play in 1960, had a few things to say about social injustice, and his nontraditional use of one of Spain's major historical personalities was not universally well-received at the time.
The translation is somewhat formal; there are remnants of what I imagine are formalities from the original Spanish. I didn't consider this a problem; the story takes place in the 17th century, and there should be differences from modern colloquial speech. Unfortunately, the plot somewhat soft-pedals the Spanish Inquisition itself; there is perhaps not enough reference made to the frightening excesses that were committed in the name of religion. One wonders if Spaniards have as much trouble dealing with the Inquisition as elder Germans have had acknowledging the Holocaust.
I would recommend this play to anyone who is looking for a story that is more than just light entertainment, and who doesn't mind reading a playscript as opposed to prose. It was certainly a joy to perform.
