This is a big test to get yourself prepared for with a lot of technical information to cover. So getting this flashcard system is a great way to get yourself ready in the least amount of time! The cards are very durable and nicely put together. Visually they look and feel great and there’s so many of them, too. With a flashcard system, you can take them on the go and study wherever you are. You just can’t beat the convenient and portability.

They say that repetition is the key to memorizing and that’s what’s so great about these cards. You don’t have to waste any time making them yourself because this system’s got it all. Everything is broken down into easy to digest parts. It makes studying almost fun. And who couldn’t use a little of that while studying? The cards are great for testing your knowledge, too. They are comprehensive, yet concise. They definitely don’t waste any time getting to the heart of the matter.

Another thing that’s great about using these flashcards is that you get exposed to a variety of different types of questions. That’s a huge help because the actual exam throws many different testing styles at you. Using these cards will definitely get you up to speed in no time. They are worth every penny. Lovely little book for people who love typography

This is a lovely little book (7" x 7") full of wonderfully creative examples of dozens of designers typographic letterpress work. The cover is produced on a letterpress but, unfortunately, the interior of the book is standard offset printing. Chronicle Books had no other choice, of course. However, some of the examples are lit is such a way that the subtle embossment of the letterpress process shows beautifully. This is a book for type fans but also is a rich graphic inspiration for all designers at 175 pages. Highly recommended.

First Peyton nearly dies during a snowy accident that only she believes was deliberate. Then she and Kevin are ensnared in a web of escalating circumstances that drive them further apart. The soap opera plot will disappoint those expecting something meatier, and even the two lead characters play stock roles (the strong, independent woman; the dissatisfied, jealous husband). The result is a thriller that doesn't offer many thrills, even when Grippando takes the wraps off some late surprises. Authorities are treating the incident like an accident, but Peyton is convinced it was a deliberate attack. Problem is, she can't convince anyone else, not even her husband. Grippando excels at the ordinary-person-in-extraordinary-circumstances story, and this one uses the premise expertly, building enough suspense to keep readers looking in dark corners and over their shoulders. Frustration, Unhealthy Competition, and the Nature of Love

High achievers are often happy only when they stand atop the mound of people they have overcome. Lying with Strangers has much than its quota of such self-absorbed people.

At the center of the story, we have the perfect woman, Dr. Peyton Shields. She's bright, beautiful, married, and on the fast track in her profession as she starts her internship at Boston Children's Hospital after graduating from Harvard Medical School. The rest of the major characters find themselves overwhelmed by Peyton . . . including her husband, her old boy friend, and her stalker. Many men want to be the career stars in their marriages. That opportunity isn't likely to be fulfilled for Kevin Stokes whose career isn't doing well as he follows Peyton to where her career can flourish. Kevin finds himself being attracted to another woman and a chance for a new career. The ex-boy friend simply feels used. The stalker has convinced himself that Peyton wants him sexually, and he's frustrated by her come-ons in a chat room.

As the story evolves, Peyton and Kevin realize how little they know about each other and their marriage. But deadly peril makes it critical that they pull together. Will they?

How will Peyton get rid of the stalker? Usually, the more attention you pay to them . . . the worse it gets. But what if you don't realize you have a stalker?

The plot has many unexpected twists and turns that will keep some women up late at night checking for prowlers and burglars. I found myself wondering how the conflict set up by the plot would be resolved, but didn't feel like the threat implied in the plot was a serious one.

Those who like legal thrillers will enjoy some good insights into the difficulties of sustaining a defense for co-defendants.

But ultimately, it's a book that doesn't do enough to develop its characters, to create suspense that readers will feel in their guts, and to lure readers into caring about the characters.

What a Thrill Ride!

I decided to read "Lying With Strangers" by James Grippando because of the praises that James Patterson has given his books. Patterson's praises certainly hold up as Grippando shows all the signs of entering the realm of the best mystery writers today--like Harlan Coben, James Patterson, Dean Koontz and many more.

The book starts out with a bang as Dr. Peyton Shields is run off the road by a stalker she doesn't even realize is stalking her while her husband is out of town on business having an affair with a colleague. Kevin Stokes, Peyton's husband, is riddled with guilt, but doesn't tell his wife about the tryst. And so begins a series of keeping secrets coupled with circumstances that appear one way, but truly are not. When Peyton believes her husband really isn't being faithful, she goes out with an ex-boyfriend and his friends, gets very drunk, and wakes up the next day in his bed. From there, the book twists and turns leaving the reader to wonder what will happen next after Peyton and Kevin are indicted for murder and secrets are revealed.

Although I figured out who the culprit was behind Peyton's trials and tribulations, I did find myself doubting my decision until the very end. Grippando's writing and his way of having the characters keep secrets from the reader make this an exciting read for any mystery buff. He is definitely an author to watch.

A fast moving suspense novel about trust in a marriage

LYING WITH STRANGERS is the second James Grippando book I've read. He's been known for the Jack Swytek novels, and I've read one and thought it was okay. This novel is one that I could easily begin reviewing by pointing out its many faults and problems. But truthfully, I found it quite compelling and easy to read.

The story starts out slowly as Grippando introduces Peyton Shields, a resident working 80 hour weeks at Boston Children's Hospital. Her husband, Kevin Stokes, is also working long hours as an associate lawyer at a prestigious Boston firm. Peyton has a nagging belief that a man is stalking her, and when she is run off the road and narrowly escapes with her life from an icy lake, the story really takes off. This is a story of deception and trust within a marriage. Kevin is tempted by other women and jealous of Peyton, who is working with her old high school boyfriend Gary Varnes. Peyton is fearful of a stalker, and can't trust her husband once she catches him in one too many lies.

The good: Grippando creates some compelling characters, and conflict within a marriage has always been fun for me to read. Peyton and Kevin are a perfect example of how a marriage can be destroyed when a couple doesn't communicate and builds up walls of mistrust. Grippando throws a lot of problems at the couple and I kept turning the pages to figure out how they would escape.

The not so good: From the very beginning of the novel, I kept having the feeling that if Peyton and Kevin would have talked just a bit longer, none of their problems would have existed. I felt that way throughout the entire book. Suspense novels usually don't work when the reader believes all the problems could have been avoided. Also, there is a legal strategy of joint defense used later in the book. Grippando is a lawyer, so I believe he knew what he was doing, but I'd never heard of it or read about it in real life or other fiction. (After a quick internet search, I saw that it does exist.)

This is a fun, quick read that will cause me to consider reading more of Grippando's books.

This is a really excellent guide to copyright in musical compositions. It gives a great overview and deals with many aspects in some detail. It is a wonderful introduction to the subject and will answer many questions. It is a must for any person working with musical copyrights.

Nina couldn't resist the romantic way he swept her off her feet until she could finally admit that she loved him, too, but she was still keeping secrets from him. Her past was too painful to share and it took all of John's patience and quite a bit of his skill as a psychotherapist to get her to open up to him. Nina did open to John and during a romantic trip to Puerto Rico, she shared more of her past with him than she'd ever shared with anyone, but in the following weeks a crisis arose that sent her back to her home in Oakland, CA leaving only a terse goodbye letter that could have been put on a Post-it note. John goes after her to put their love on the line; either she can trust him with her whole heart or their relationship can't last. She is stunned that he came for her but she is still afraid that telling him the truth about her past will destroy everything. Melanie Schuster's done it again...and I'm so grateful.

In Melanie Schuster's latest "A Fool for You" we are reintroduced to John Flores and Nina Whitney who we first encountered in "Something to Talk About". Having met months ago when Nina signed on to serve as the ghostwriter for John's upcoming book, these two have shared a fiery relationship which has included dealing with John's being reunited with his long lost family and suffering with a severe illness. Through it all Nina, also called "Miss Parker" by John, has been a great supporter and friend.

Nina has perfected a cool, professional exterior which would scare away a less confident man than John. However, having seen a glimpse of a hot passionate woman below Nina's carefully crafted exterior, John is intrigued deeply by Nina. Driven to action after seeing her dance with other men at a wedding reception they are both attending, John is determined to get to know Nina better. It is a task that won't be easily accomplished, but makes for a wonderfully pleasant reading experience.

Ms. Schuster, as always, crafts an engaging and remarkable story. As in past books, we are treated to updates of our favorite characters from the Cochran/Devearaux families. As I have come to expect of one of Ms. Schuster's books, "A Fool for You" was a delightful read with enough drama to keep me reading on and on.

Another Great Book on the American Revolution!

"Those Damned Rebels" is another well researched, well written and compelling book on the American Revolution. While presenting the Revolutionary War from a British perspective, it succeeds admirably in stripping away some of the distortions and myths surrounding both sides.

The book also presents a realistic picture of the world's greatest power at the time attempting to put down a revolt for the understandable reason that British leaders believed that if they failed, their whole empire would collapse. There is thus a great deal in this history that resonates deeply today as Americans struggle with the future of their military involvement in Iraq.

Two aspects of this book are particularly noteworthy. The first is the tremendous resistance among the British themselves to military involvement against the North American colonies, a resistance that undermined the King's political and military commitment to quelling the American revolution. Centered in Parliament and supported by parts of the British media, such resistance provided "those damned rebels" with a great deal of political and moral support.

A second aspect is the key role played in the American victory in 1782 by allies - especially France, Spain and Holland. All provided troops, weapons and equipment and expanded the American revolt into a world war. It was a war the British had problems sustaining.

According to author Michael Pearson, it was the threatened involvement of Russia in support of the Americans that finally broke British resistance to a settlement with the revolutionaries.

This is a tremendously good read and suitable for either student or scholar of the American Revolutionary War. But there is also a great deal in America's first long war that rings true today as Americans struggle in another long war to quell a revolt in Iraq.

The British View of the Rev War

Any book that provides a look at the other side in the Rev War is a welcome addition to the subject. This work is a bit of a dated classic. Considering that it came out several years before the Bicenntennial of 1976 it really is something of a landmark. While not comprehensive, the author writes with verve and energy. I would say it is mostly a military perspective, but there are chapters dealing with politics in England and France. In that respect the scope is far more comprehensive than the often myopic perspective presented in many US histories. Battles are described briefly, but with energy. I would call this more of a general read than a strict military history, but it has appeal for both readers. A good place to start in order to see the Rev War in a wider context and without the mythology and worship often lauded on this subject by most US writers. Recommedned for the genral reader and miitary historian alike. A good classic that should have a newer edition.

A Very Good Historical Account

`Those Damned Rebels' was originally published in 1972 in hardback and later re-released in paperback in 2000. I am glad that DaCapo Press decided to re-publish this title, as it's one of the better one-volume accounts of the American Revolution that I have read for some time. As the sub title indicates this book is mainly the war as seen though British eyes but after reading the book I think it's without any particular bias.
The author uses numerous first-hand accounts and reports from the participants to reconstruct the events as they appeared to the soldiers, sailors, commanders and politicians at that time. This is so well done that the narrative never bogs down or becomes boring. The story is told in such a fluid and informative manner that it literally sweeps you into the history of the monumental events of this period.
The author covers all the main highlights of this war, from Bunker Hill to the surrender at Yorktown but he also supplies information on many of the smaller battles and skirmishes throughout this war. Nor does the author exclude events in Britain and Europe and the ramifications of battles won and lost in America on those seats of power that were involved in this conflict from afar.
The story moves from the battlefields of America to the Kings Court and Parliament in England and into the Courts of France, Spain, Russia and Holland. The events are told in manner that gives the reader a feeling of "authentic immediacy of an eye witness".
In over 402 pages of narrative (hardback version) the story told gives the reader a full account on the birth of the United States of America. The only gripe I have with this book (the 1972 edition) was the standard of the maps. In this edition they were taken from original maps of the time which I suppose fits in with the author's intention but are pretty useless to the modern reader to track events.
Overall I found this to be an easy to read book and I am sure that most people who enjoy this period of history will have a great time reading this account.

About the Author
Loren Coleman, M.S.W. has researched the Copycat Effect for more than two decades. Coleman has been an adjunct professor at various universities in New England since 1980 and a senior researcher with the Muskie School for Public Policy. He is currently the primary consultant for the State of Maine's Youth Suicide Prevention Initiative. The author, coauthor, or editor of more than twenty books, including the critically acclaimed work Suicide Clusters, lives in Portland, Maine.

Again, Loren Coleman has taken the time and effort to compile an inquisitive narrative into his forte; Cryptozoology and mysterious places.
You are gently led down his early paths of inquiry that seem to reflect his true Fortean attitude and beliefs that eventually expose the idea that anything is possible.
The reports never seem to die off and although many of them are very old, some are surprisingly recent. From black panthers to strange bipedal hairy humanoids,the trails fork right and left and more times than not, the evidence leads to even more difficult questions.
Old wives tales and legendary folklore have led to permanent impressions and resulted in many locations being given strange and leading names as to their history. Such as the name Devil being used hundreds of times in naming mountain peaks, caves, and lakes. It's true and worldwide, although sometimes other supernatural monikers are also used; such as spirit, ghost, and witch.
What it all comes down to is a great chapter book to be read just before bedtime with milk and cookies.
A great interest prodding script that makes it difficult to put down.
It rates my five stars for sure.
